{"id":5191,"date":"2026-03-31T16:41:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T14:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adresys.com\/?p=5191"},"modified":"2026-03-31T16:41:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T14:41:20","slug":"genius-atex-angel-react-ventures-into-explosion-hazardous-atmospheres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adresys.com\/en\/genius-atex-angel-react-ventures-into-explosion-hazardous-atmospheres\/","title":{"rendered":"Genius ATEX: ANGEL React Ventures into Explosion\u2011Hazardous Atmospheres"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h2>What does ATEX mean?<\/h2>\n<p>ATEX is derived from French and stands for <em><strong>AT<\/strong>mosph\u00e8res <strong>Ex<\/strong>plosives<\/em>.<br \/>\nIt describes working environments in which an explosive atmosphere may arise under certain circumstances:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>from combustible dust<\/strong> (e.g. flour, wood dust, sugar \u2014 in bakeries, sawmills, food processing plants)<\/li>\n<li><strong>from flammable gases or vapours<\/strong> (e.g. at petrol stations, chemical plants, whisky distilleries)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In these areas, it must be ensured that devices cannot act as ignition sources under any circumstances.<\/p>\n<h2>Which certification does the Genius have?<\/h2>\n<p>The Genius ATEX is certified for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EX II 3G Ex ic IIB T4 Gc<\/li>\n<li>EX II 3D Ex ic IIIB T135 \u00b0C Dc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This means it is approved for environments such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>gases of group IIB (e.g. ethylene)<\/li>\n<li>non\u2011conductive dusts such as sugar, flour, wood or paper dust<\/li>\n<li>combustible fibres larger than 500\u202f\u00b5m, e.g. cotton or cocoa fibres<\/li>\n<li>temperature ranges up to 135\u202f\u00b0C<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Genius ATEX is <em>not<\/em> suitable for underground use.<br \/>\nThe most important information, however: the Genius ATEX is certified for <strong>Zone 2\/22<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>What does 2\/22 mean?<\/h2>\n<p>Zones 2 (gas) and 22 (dust) are areas considered to have a low level of risk.<br \/>\nAn explosive atmosphere may occur \u2014 but:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>not regularly,<\/li>\n<li>not during normal operation,<\/li>\n<li>and if it does occur, only for short periods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Such environments are therefore not highly explosive but still require specific precautions when it comes to occupational safety.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why we adapted our Genius accordingly.<\/p>\n<h2>What does this certification for zone 2\/22 bring?<\/h2>\n<p>In short: <strong>many more application possibilities for ANGEL React.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a large number of companies, Zones 2 or 22 exist somewhere. In a chocolate factory, this might be the cocoa storage area; at petrol stations, nearly all areas apart from tanks and pumps fall into this category.<\/p>\n<p>With the new certification, you can use the Genius ATEX exactly in these areas and significantly improve employee protection.<\/p>\n<h2>Why zone 2\/22 \u2014 why not aim higher?<\/h2>\n<p>A valid question \u2014 and yes, we naturally asked ourselves the same.<br \/>\nThe answer: we listened to our customers. Zones 2 and 22 are the most common ATEX zones in businesses, and these are precisely the environments where ANGEL React is intended to be used.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, it is relatively easy to obtain a compatible smartphone for Zone 2\/22 that can work together with the Genius.<\/p>\n<p>This is why we deliberately chose Zone 2\/22 \u2014 and were able to reduce development costs in the process.<br \/>\nAs a result, we can offer the Genius ATEX at a very reasonable price.
