Questions & Answers

Please get in touch with us if your question is not answered below.

  • At which voltage threshold does the ANGEL Shirt system respond?

In a nutshell: There isn’t any, and that’s a good thing. It is not the voltage itself that is harmful, but the current that flows through the body. The Shirt Genius measures the voltage drop between the upper arms, which indicates the current flowing through one of the two arms. It is, therefore, irrelevant whether the voltage is high or low. The trigger threshold of the Shirt Genius is typically at a single-digit milliampere level.

  • Can the shirt detect every type of electrical accident?

The ANGEL Shirt system recognizes when there is a current flow through the body and a voltage drop between the upper arms. As the circumstances behind an electric incident are many and vary, we cannot guarantee that every single one will be detected.

  • Is the ANGEL Shirt system suitable when working on live systems?

Working on live systems is subject to a particular set of rules that may not be altered or reduced, even when using a smart textile shirt. You should always try to work following the five safety rules. The system provides an additional level of safety if a fault occurs.

  • What happens if I jump off the ladder?

The fall detection is a combination of free fall with subsequent immobility. If a significant shock occurs, the fall sensor starts recording the fall, integrated into the Clip Genius and the Shirt Genius. The fall sensor detects false alarms by analyzing falls and recognizing whether it is necessary to trigger an alarm or not. In fact, the automatic alarm triggering is only activated if the person remains motionless after the fall, as we then assume a real emergency. Therefore, fall detection is not activated in every fall situation, e.g., when jumping off the ladder and then walking away.

  • How come I can’t just use the motion sensor in my cell phone?

To reliably detect movement, the cell phone would have to be carried on your person at all times. As most users don’t do this, ADRESYS has developed an intelligent Genius system that can be clipped onto the waistband or fastened to the smart textile shirt.

  • Can emergencies still be detected without cell reception?

Cell phones use either the cellular network or a direct data connection such as Wi-Fi. If neither link is available for more than 15 minutes, the cell phone will prompt you to reestablish the link. You can also set a work timer – you can activate this timer before you carry out dangerous work or before you, for example, work in a basement with no reception. If the timer has expired and you do not end the alarm, the rescue chain is automatically informed.

  • Will the shirt protect me in the event of an arcing fault?

To provide protection in the event of arcing faults, the usual recommendation is to wear flame-retardant clothing over a cotton shirt, as man-made fabrics can melt onto the skin. We recommend that you wear your ANGEL shirt next to the skin. The wearing of flame-retardant clothing appropriate to the risk situation over the shirt is a mandatory requirement.

  • Does ANGEL qualify as personal protection equipment in the sense of EU Regulation 2016/425?

No, all ANGEL systems are a voluntary additional equipment and therefore not a personal protective equipment within the meaning of the EU Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of March 9, 2016 and do not replace any otherwise compulsory protective clothing or protective equipment.

  • Can the ANGEL Shirt rust?

No. Sweating and washing cause moisture in the textile, but we have developed our technology to be waterproof. If the specified care instructions are followed, there will be no functional loss after up to 50 washing cycles. We also use rust-free material, such as stainless steel, for our barbed rivets in the connection plate.

  • Will the Bluetooth connection be disrupted if I am using another Bluetooth device at the same time?

No, Bluetooth® uses several different frequencies, so that interference is very unlikely. Only too many Bluetooth® devices in a confined space can lead to reduced performance and short interruptions, which are communicated acoustically.
